termux-nix: android x11 desktop configured with nix.

Lately, I’ve been having fun with termux / termux-x11. Carrying a laptop around all the time is a hassle, and I’ve always dreamed of building a cyberdeck. But SoC-based products have issues with hardware quality, so I eventually settled on termux / termux-x11 on Android.

I worked outside for more than 30 minutes with this setup, and personally I’m quite satisfied with the result. I tried nix-on-droid, but ended up going with native termux because of proot’s overhead. Instead, I created a project called termux-nix.

• build nix derivation outside android as it randomly crashes inside proot.
• rsync to termux, run scripts as if it is a home-manager.
• nix applications running inside proot container, with shared /tmp, storage, … with termux
